My intercooler pipes are black painted if you prep and paint it correctly it will hold and look good.

Copper is a much better conductor of heat than aluminum but aluminum is lighter and you can put more tubes in the same amount of space thus.
There is a reason they tell you not to paint a radiator aluminum as it reduces it s efficiency.
If this were a header then you would want this but we are talking intake pipes where cooler is better.

Pipes are cool the argument is that powdercoating the intercooler it self hinders its cooling effect powdercoating is think and will take away from some surface cooling area and act as a barrier where heat transfer is reduced.
On my non intercooled flatty ovcp i used a thermal dispersant coating to try and get rid of heat faster.
